Internationally known for its rich art culture, bodacious designs, and needlework expertise, Vietnam has been a hub for art-loving tourists. The design and sales of these artworks represented a primary means of income for many natives with the solitary skill as artists and artisans.
The global COVID19 pandemic came with a force that shook the world and left many industries reeling from its impact. The arts industry was not left out of the adverse effects of the coronavirus and none more so than the native artists and artisans of Vietnam.
With the pandemic came a drought in Vietnam tourism and a shortage in income for Vietnam natives. In 2021, with the sole aim to connect Vietnamese artists and artisans with international buyers, we founded CayatchArts. Working collaboratively with skilled native Vietnamese artists, curators, and gallerists, we have curated a beautiful selection of Vietnamese artwork, building a one-stop destination for all lovers of beautiful, unique Vietnamese traditional embroidery wall-hanging art masterpieces.
CayatchArts provides a platform for artists and collectors looking for new discoveries to buy and sell beautiful artwork without traveling to Vietnam during a pandemic while providing skilled native Vietnam artists with sustainable means to monetize their stunning needlework.
We believe art is made to be seen and shared. Our ambition is to provide an internationally available platform to learn, interact and support truly talented Vietnamese artists worldwide.
Traditional hand embroidery can be made on any type of fabric: cotton, silk… After having the pattern, the artist has to transfer it to the fabric. This step is done entirely by hand, using a scanned paper needle pattern in combination with pastels and kerosene.
Also, the pattern is adapted to the fabric with only the stroke but not the color as cross embroidery. With hand embroidery, the artisan has the chance to show their creativity with many different color codes of the thread, including raw thread, polished thread, silk thread,…
Traditional hand embroidery requires a long process of training. Being able to master the skills of hand embroidery can take years, depending on the ability to learn, the patience, the creativity and even the gift of the artisan.
